Yes, it does seem like I've been starting quite a few, but I've been planning this one for a long time. I finally lined up the second A-10 and put a quick mock up together. I'm still trying to decide if I should widen the body and add length as well. It has a nice look now with the short fuselage. Decisions, decisions.
Either way, there's lots of under wing space for a rather large loadout. ;)  B)

Looks good. Especially the four engines. I agree with you on the short fuselage...looks good that way. But the looong stabs with the 4 fins look like they'd snap off upon landing.

I was thinking the same thing. I was trying for that E-2,C-2 look in the tail and will probably modify soon. :)

That would work...you could use the bits you cut off the inner ones to lengthen the outers......that E-2 has always had a certain amount of 'coolness' to it !

Nice creation!
I agree too that it is best with the short unchanged fuselage. Because it is more funny, directing the eyes towards the very surprising engines  . A long fuselage would make the four-engine layout almost normal, sad... :(

you might want to move the inboard verticals a touch farther inboard so they're evenly between the two engines - as 'tis you could have some definite problems with exhaust impingement and exhaust-induced vibration.

Wow Eddie an A-10 genius brainstorm! You are amazing! Here's another vote for keeping the short fuse and cutting a bit off the inboard vert. stabs. so the rudders fit between the engines. Also, you might want to consider attaching a couple of gatling guns to those extra, and now superfluous, landing gear fairings on the wings' leading edge.

Better yet, install a good FLIR/targeting pod in each of the superfluous landing gear bulges in order to provide a full range of trageting at low altitude.

Just a thought.... how would it look with the outer engines mounted below and just outside the originals.

Second thought.... And/or just the end fins without the inners.

Third and last thought.... How's about UNDER arming it. Just a practice 'winder way outboard balanced by a jamming pod (of your own invention, of course) and maybe a drop-tank.

Fantastic concept, as usual Eddie. Keep the photos coming.

Or just stack the engines on top each other?

I'm going out on a limb here and going against popular opinion (nobody ever accused me of going with the flow) :P

Lengthen the fuselage (before and after the wing to stay balanced) to offset the wider wings, take the extra engines and either integrate them into the wing splice(look like a Gloster Meteor?) or put them on the wingtips, lose the extra vertical stabs and put a third one mounted on the fuselage right in the middle of the two real ones.  See, all very easy.  When should we expect to see it done??

I've got a million ideas for A-10s but little time so I love seeing someone else hacking the Hog

You just gave me another idea.  B)  In the future, I'll use a couple of small hogs to make a high altitude recon or a Nasa high altitude research  bird. Extend the wings futher and really stretch the body.

I thought of stacking the engines. Over the top looked.....over the top ;) . If I went under, they would be giant vacuum cleaners on the runway.

It's a general feeling that the tail needs change, including myself.

Thank you everyone, for the ideas. Once again, the community comes together to build a airplane. :)

I considered your idea in the beginning and would love to try it sometime. I almost did it, but had to remember the last time I went off the plan. I got a UAV that lasted over a year. ;)    :). I really think it would look good like that. Some one hear should try it, right? B)

Ahem....  where was I?

I agree with what Evan said earlier in the thread.  Those inboard vertical stabs need to be moved...  somewhere.  The sponsons you could have all kinds of fun with, either making them into FLIR turrets like Evan suggested, or perma-mounting jammers there, or you could make the inboard ones launch stations for UAV's or heavy ordinance (Have Naps).

I look forward to seeing this thing finished.
