QuoteI've done a small test to see if I could do the nose art myself. I will have to do this smaller for the real deal, here's my 1st attempt at freehand nose art. :)

Very nice! My first attempt at freehand noseart was painting this on a B-17 once:

Eddie that nose art is just spectacular! I encouage you to give it a try!

I consider myself a bit of an artist and I'd be hard pressed to accomplish something so skillfully. My hat is off to you sir!

Thanks BdaB! I gave it a try and this is what came out. It needs a little clean up, but this is it. :) The fun part will be doing the mirror image on the other side.

Woah! That looks superb! I wish my custom noseart could come out that good.

You have got to be kidding me, Eddie!

Do you realize how great this is?
I don't mean for you and this particular model.
I mean for all of US and all of OUR models for which we want customized, hand-painted markings!    ;)

Incredible.

And don't worry about the other side too much.  Your average viewer wouldn't be able to easily recall one side vs. the other, anyway.  Just ensure that whatever view that allows a bit of both sides to be seen simultaneously (i.e. top and front views) are symmetrical.  Keep eyeballing it the way a sculptor does.

This is so great!!!!

The jaw-dropping smiley is totally inadequite for this, Eddie. Bloody hell, mate! I don't really have much to say. It's gorgeous. Good luck on the other side. And I think you may have just earned a new member title on the new board:

"Who needs decals?"

Thtat's just incredible, Eddie! Mr Howling Mouse has some good tips there and this one is a real stand-out! Should you enter it in a show, the hand-painted nose art alone would make this one worthy of the blue ribbon!

Coupled with the rest of the build, you take it to the next level...platinum ribbon!

Baz, Jon and BdaB,
I really appreciate your kind words. B)

As I mentioned , I needed to clean up work a litlle and here it is. I'll be starting on the other side shortly. It's gonna be hard to say focused today. There's a Twilight Zone marathon on Sci Fi channel today. Very hard to resist sitting in front of the TV all day. I introduced Elena to it and she loves it! B)

Wow!   Stunning handpainting.   I thought that the original decals were quite good, but this is much more effective.

Thank you very much McGrieg! B)

I finished both sides and here's how it looks from the front and the other side. :) Still a little clean up to do, but it DONE!   It's all down hill from here.

Stunning work Eddie!

Before you get too worked up about 'cleaning up' the noseart, remember that real noseart is painted by hand, not applied with honking great decals.  Small variations from side to side is how real noseart turns out.  Your mini version is just as good as any 'real' noseart I've seen!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Hi eddie,
Ditto to all of the above.
Give yourself a break man, most of us mortals are happy with one good model a year or even a lifetime. You`ve done so many that your famed on both here and FSM. Hell I even conn`d the term Millerize in your honour so don`t knock yourself out on something that was good before and now is 100 % better. Take a break, calm down, relax and then build me a free copy of this model ASAP ! :D
Regards Gary

What can I say that I haven't already said? Not only was the first side great, but the second side is just as good, and how similar they are from the head-on shot. Marvelous. And that head-on shot, how the tusks and nose meet, with the little void just about the FLIR pod. Just stunning. I can't wait to see her finished up.

So Eddie, did you use a paint brush for this or markers?  Either way the "Thing" is looking awesome.
