Roger the Cabin Boy Again

The idea was from Swedish Bob, he of intricate 1/72 Swedish subjects, and brains behnd the 122 Hunter display a few years back.  I built the model, and it now lives in dusty storage boxes of the Swedish AF SIG.

Backstory was that Lt Col Lars Orderss from the Flygvapnet was given secret instructions to prepare for Sweden's entry into the Kuwait scrap, simply because Saabs and Volvo cars and trucks needed fuel like every other vehicle, so that national econominc self-interest was to end hundred of years of Swedish fence-sitting neutrality.

But applying the desert camo took so long, the war was over before the masking and painting had been finished, so the whole thing was kept rather hush-hush.

Until now.

Wow for the color scheme.

Double Wow for the fact the masking job.

And is that a tail-less phantom to the right there?

Mmmmm, Viggens....  (Homer drool, Homer drool)

That is one insane paint job ya got there, Roger.  Kudos for completing it and making it look so dang good!  I like that plane

I think the tailless Phantom is a Phangen or Vigtom, ie, the tailplanes were made into canards.  I always thought the front end of the Phantom and Viggen looked similar to one another.  I know someone posted a pic of that plane, but for the life of me I can't find it.

As for the Phantom, somebody UK based will have to track down Ted Burnett, Swedish AF SIG leader.  It has canards, making it Viggen-like, and Ted did a backstory about a Prof. M. Maus.

I think Ted also did this one, also on that table, the photo file says it's a Dogbull.

Wonderfull desert camo, It must have been hell to do that masking. I can understand why they where to late to enter Desert storm :P

The desert Viggen model was handpainted.  It was only masked in the backstory to delay it even more.  I can see why the Flygvapnet have since gone for simple greys, maintaining that camo style must have taken much effort.

NARSES2

They are nice Viggens - one of the aircraft out of my "usual" timeframe that I like

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
