You know, the germans did try out placing engines in teh center of the pods, mounted to a prop in the boom

Woah Tophe, that totally rocks!!! I really love your wonderfully creative concept and your skill at pulling it off! Have you decided on a color scheme and markings yet? Will it wear your famous painted canopies that have inspired me so? Aboslutely wonderful, my friend! B)

Well, I did not know that at all, and I am much interested! Tell me more, tell me more... (the only twin-boomer I known like that is the Soviet Bedunkovich OSh)
[But I think I will not use this recipe here - as there will be no landing gear, no propeller on my crazy 189]

I consider an overall gloss yellow paint, with half-circle (cut in 2) RAF roundels
And of course, there will be "black" painted canopies my way, including one in the "solid" central nose. This will be a TourBus with maybe 6 panoramic view points for passengers (and no pilot, no need, electronics are good enough)

The 3 parts are glued together, the first layer of yellow paint is on (above).

Remaining:
- painting yellow the underside (first layer) --> the paint can will be empty
- ordering paint (& putty for my GP-38J)
- painting the second yellow layer
- painting the black canopies
As I will be in holidays soon, in the Philippines, I will order after coming back. Finishing :)  is scheduled for November... :(  2006 yes :)

Wow looking great Tophe! I will be counting the days until you're able to finish this one! Enjoy your well-earned holiday to the Philippines and say "Hi" to Art Bell for me while you're there. :D

Looking good, Tophe.  You and your Missus have an excellent time in the Phillipines!

I did not know who was Art Bell, but Google told me he was a radio man with a Filipino wife too...

Just like me and my US brother in law, yes...

I have received the parcel from the Modelshop and... no more gloss yellow paint, so I have turned my Triple 189 into grey color...
(still the underside then the black windows and it will be done)

Now, a squadron of THESE would produce a very interesting presence on radar!

Yes: the radar, over-saturated, would explose. This was the first anti-radar system... endangering the heroic machines protecting England, fortunately this never entered production, because... I was not born yet!

Ahh, but in 2056, a group of german scientists built and flew replica, using the drawings of tophe. But in 2081, the replica flew into a storm, and when it came outta da storm, it was intercepted by Bf-109s! The storm had taken the plane back to the year 1940. It was forced to land, and the nazis began using it against the RAF :P

Luckily, later in 1940, a flight of harrier GR5s shot it down over southern england
