We all know about the Granville brothers and their famous GeeBee racer. What isn't known is that they had a little known cousin in the Soviet Union who shared the same interest in aviation. Anton Geebeesky was an aircraft designer and was put to the task of designing an aircraft to compete in the 1940 Cleveland Air Races. This is a model of his aircraft.

Unfortunately, the invasion of Poland and the start of the war prevented the aircraft from taking part in the air races. Instead, it was used in the defense of Stalingrad, where it was run over by a tank.

Nice, very nice. How did you do the paint? Whenever I attempt white it ends up looking like I applied with a rock.

This is the curse of speed;  I have been a slave to it all my life. On my gravestone they will carve 'It never got fast enough for me'.

That is too funny and looks great. (stupid tank)

Ohhh man that's BEEE-YOOOOOO-TIFUL!!! And it's got SPATS!!!!

I think I'm in love!

I need a little "alone time" with the pics now...

I love what you did with that Ishak.  Polikarpov fighters aren't really pretty, but they look like they're ready for business, whatever that might be (racing included).

Glorious bit of work there, but shouldn't the designer be "Anton Granvilleski"?

Very nice!  Congratulations! ^_^
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Braincells,

Very neat job, neat idea too.  Is it a merge of two kits or a spatted Polikarpov?

I don't know how you achieved the paint job, complex masking?

I built a Russian Air Racer too - the 'Red Saetta'.  Rufus (1995(?)-2005) was a super dog, I take in rescue Irish Setters as another hobby/distraction.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear NVGs...

Roger that totally rocks! What a fantastic idea, even if it was a "dog" of a kit.  ;)

At the risk of hijacking the thread, here's a pic of Rufus.

What a marvel! Looker! Mmmm, must be the best Polly whif, no, the best Polly full stop, that I've ever seen! I've seen the real thing perform but, wow, if they were painted like this just imagine the crowds at Wanaka!
