Confirm one more for the whiffers!

I just walked out of my LHS with a TSR.2 under my arm.

It was a shock really, I was suspecting I'd have to go e-bay or enlist the help of one of the English folks here. I just about fell over when I saw it looking back at me from the shelf.

So glad yesterday was pay day!

QuoteHello everyone. I have 8 TSR-2's (2 from Airfix, 4 from Ebay and 2 from a model shop in Halifax). I am just over half way through building my first one. As I have a few to build I decided to build a reusable jig to assist with the possitioning of the undercarriage.

Hi Chris

A good idea as the undercarriageis a tad vague in its instructions. The bar for the wheels is too loose on the main leg spigot, the should have really added a tong and grove to the join to ensure the undercarriage sits how it should.

Cheers

Geoff

not got to the u/c legs yet, but am I the only one that thinks the u/c doors have come from a different kit?

Archibald

Got one for two weeks... I was lucky! some days ago I have asked them about the owners of the shop but they told me it was not available. Some days later,I went to the usual shop to see last kits available and... the TSR-2 was looking at me with its long neck... as I haven't got enough money on me, I rushed to La Poste, got 40 euros on my "reserve", rushed back to the shop... and had it for 30 euros! It was the last available... I talked with the guy before leaving, and he tell me the model I had bought had been reserved for someone else... who have not come.
So I'VE GOT MINE standing in my room... He would be nice along my English electric P.8, Saro SR.177 and Hawker P.1121 fresh build from scratch...  ^_^  ^_^
I have also a F-111A in the pile, along with a Vulcan.  As the Vigilante and Mirage IV are just finished, I could play to "What bomber RAAF will bought to replace its Canberra...?"
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Archibald

PD7, don't worry you can certainly find one in Lyon or Paris (euromaquette). If this model arrived to bordeaux, tout est possible...

at todays Hinkley show, Parabelam models from birmingham had 3 boxes of TSR-2's at the normal 16.99 each, he shifted at least half the stock he had on his stand. And Andy pak had about 12-13 kits up at 20.99 each (he claimed he was getting them from a source in france, and there fore come from the 5000 export examples.) there was also a report that an under table sale (stash clearance) had two up at over 25 quid each...some mug must have brought em as i never saw them.

Second one is on its way as of ten minutes ago.

I got an email yesterday - evidently they got them during this week, and they promptly sold out. Completely. Due to "demand far out stripping supply" they could only hold mine for a week. Thank goodness for me mum's credit card!

Add another for the whiffers!

EDIT:

Lyon is the Hell of the modelers!! The biggest hobbyshop here even don't have any Airfix kit!! And half the shops don't KNOW Airfix!!!

"-Escuse me, do you have the TSR.2'kit by Airfix??
-How do you say?
-TSR.2... A British prototype bomber...
-...
-You know! It's a new kit... and, well, you're a model kit shop so...
-... ... ... "Airfix" you said??
-Okaaaaay... Don't worry for me, I will find it on EBay"

And that's a REAL conversation!!

I actually cut up the wings of one of mine last night for use on 'something else' :o

Don't worry, the TSR.2 will appear in due course with different wings ;)

Sisko

Well I was in Melbourne today and had a few hours to kill before my next job. I popped into Hobby HQ and lo and behold there was a stack of Airfix TSR's sitting in the corner for $40 Aussie each.

Christmas come early for the Sisko!

So I bought 2 and beat a hasty retreat back to my car. Where I sat like a lecherous old man fondling the plastic bits.

Me too Alvis.

Course, doubt any will show up on the shelves here in SLC.  Still trying to find the Skyvan and want a couple of their Marauders as well.  May have to resort to ordering those 2.
