Sales of Airfix kits plummeted in the 1980s, and GCSEs had to be made easier as a result - James May

Thanks Nev that is exactly wot I wanna do. Fits in with Barry's Thatch scheme and Eddies Gauze technique perfectly.

I'm thinking light and dark greens over Desert Pink?
Or if I really wanna go nuts, bright yellow, dark green over desert pink or radome tan.
Maybe four colours?
Five?
Hell why not six?
Seven! oh yeah I already did that :P

Ok after making fun of Barry and his spread sheets, I'm spending all my time on this thing just building a basic structure and figuring out how? No where near actually doing something recognisable as building.
So todays challenge was...
The seats have to sit on the floor, which means the floor has to be in before I close up the halves. If I put half a floor on each fuselage half I'm gonna get a nasty seam right down the middle.
Solution make the floor into five pieces. Two outside runners for the seats to sit on, then two photo etched tie down strips to look like those runners they have in cargo planes, and then I should be able to insert the centre strip after the fuselage halves are together.

And after cutting the clamshell doors to be replaced for a ramp I was left over with for want of a better word a big old tit. Oooh maybe I can put it on the roof to cover up the huge sink marks, call it some kind of electronics pod.
This tit is too good to waste

Don't waste the tit! Chuck Yeager™ would NEVER waste a tit!

Excellent amazing work there Leigh! I love watching your builds come together.

OK after finally figuring out how I'm gonna put this together finally got aeound to doing some building and it's starting to come to life. Some internal stuff with lots more to follow.

Alot of people would ask why so much trouble for the inside?
Well because I want to .
And because I like to.
and I don't want it to look like this.

Because you really can see it and I'd rather have it look like this!

Holy moley Leigh that's some absolutely stupendous detail work on the interior! I'm stunned. I feel like throwing in the towel now.

Seriously, mighty fine amazing work. I think after this one, we'll be forced to name every GB after you.

Dumbstruck,

Wow Leigh...that is really something else !  Great detail, and glad to hear you are going to keep the teat on top, it makes the whole thing whackalicious.

Leigh youre doing that old girl very proud indeed
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

D*mn, that's some interior.  :o  Makes mine look like a couple sheets of Evergreen.

Which, of course, is what it is.  :D

You are an inspiration for me to get cracking on my own Rotodyne again.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Leigh

Thanks guys. Been one of those careful what you wish for weekends, been so burnt out at work and putting in so many hours without any time off for over a
year that I called in sick for a few days, result that sitting at the bench doing this all day screwed my back up and now I'm twisted up like a pretzel and haven't been able to do anything except lie flat for two days.
Anyways....
The great thing about these forums is it's a great way to process ideas out loud and I'm pretty sure I know what I'm gonna do with this and am working up the backstory.
Sorry Zac not gonna be Bravo November, I know my limits and some real stories are so great they should be left alone. I wouldn't give the DamBusters B-17s or take away the Gladiators from Malta.

As for actually doing that kind of work it's really easy. The hardest part is getting out of the mindset that you can't do it or it's too much work. Yes it is very time consuming and fiddly but that's the stuff I love. You have to concentrate on exactly what's in front of you and not worry about the rest of it and let it overwhelm you. I still don't have a clue how I'm gonna do the guns.
To put all this stuff in place I just cut each piece to fit, lay it in place, then with a lining brush I just dip in laquer thinner then touch to the piece and let capilllary action do the rest.Sometime you have to hold the piece in place with a knife point.
I found this so much easier than trying to put glue on either of the pieces and then put them together. Also be prepared to sacrifice the brush it doesn't fare too well from all the laquer thinner, I have one that I use solely for this purpose.

Right next question. Hard points on the wings I wanna put some rockets on and I was thinking of drop tanks too.
Or tip tanks?
