It obviously doesn't like the shiny metallic paint underneath - it might be worth giving it a light sanding to give the overcoat something to grip onto.

Oh sure, NOW you tell me!  That's why I need you guys to move over here and keep me from making so many dumb mistakes.

Oh well...

You know, Mr Howling Mouse, that red really looks killer and if it's chipped a bit, don't worry! I'm sure there's plenty of trainers out there that aren't kept up in pristine shape. Remember, laziness is an inherent (witness my builds) part of the human condition. Besides, I think paint chipping etc. adds to the realism of a model. I just wish I wasn't too lazy to try it myself!

And who says trainers can't be weathered and beaten up a bit? Have you seen some of those drivers ed cars?

Looks good, hope the paint cooperates during the unmasking.

Before I started on the yellow, I joked to my wife that I'd probably end up needing a second can of Tamiya yellow paint.

That was supposed to be sarcasm at the time.

Guess what?

And the red undercoating idea has had no visible impact: this thing is truly going in the direction of that greenish "chrome yellow" versus the warmer yellow of our beloved Harvards and such.  Now I know why many modellers scoff at the whole idea of undercoating (unless your topcoats can be very transparent, indeed).

Darn.

Success!!  I was extremely careful while pulling the Tamiya tape and, thankfully, NONE of the undercoated paint released.  I'm very happy.   :)

Some more pics.  Now to do touch-ups with fine brush (should only take about 200 coats!

Hey, that is lookin' good!  I have a question though.

I have noticed many of you paint the full plane the color that will be unmasked. I usually paint then mask the base color, then paint my detail color...is there a reason for doing it the other way? Is it just preference or am I missing something?

You may be very happy, but I'm bl**dy not !

This latest example of your so called 'excellence' (read in a sarcastic tone), means that I have to go to the knitting club meeting on my own again..... Hmphhhh, I was just getting used to the company too !

NOT HAPPY, not happy at all !
