I shudder to think what

crispy sauerkraut

could possibly taste like.

But I'm quite enjoying your Pilgrim's Progress with your plane.

my wife shudders in horror when I sit down with a tin of that stuff...oh, the bitterness of the sauerkraut, the sweetness of the anise seed, the coldness of the beer...hey, I'm drooling !

This is a fun build...for those of you who haven't built this kit, it is heavily recommended.

I've got an Ar-196 just started for this GB. The fuse halves were recently joined, and I plan on doing it as a twin-rudder, spatted undercarriage dive bomber somewhat like the early Stuka prototypes. It is a wicked fun little kit!

With the overpainted Arado finished (awaiting custom decals now), it is time to start on the Airfix hut, and the diorama...

Patrick H

Oh boy, that is one great looking Arado. Can't wait to see the diorama and read the rest of that wonderfull backstory.
Oh come on, give us the next chapter already, please please please, the suspence is killing me B)

The pressure gives me thrills as we climb in the air

Wow Greg you've made some impressive progress! I really enjoy your builds. I hope to be that good when I grow up someday.

Now why do I sense something brilliant in the works?

made some tables, printed out some maps, rugs and posters...a few evil books, and the place is starting to look "lived in" :

BlackOps

Greg, great work on the hut and the little details, I want to pick up one of the airfix dioramas possibly the farmhouse and plunk a big battlemech next to it. Good to see this one getting some TLC :)

Fantastic (naturally) but can we go back to the pick with the very polished "aluminum" looking floats beside the aircraft?

WHAT kind of paint/finish did you use for that? Beautiful!!

Yes, the diorama is inspired/ingenius and I wish I had your Arado on my shelf but I'm easily distracted by shiny objects! :dum:

Is the Arado kit a current re-release by Airfix? I've never even seen one before.
None on our LHS shelves! <_<

Thanks! For the aluminium floats, I like to use Krylon Chrome rattlecan spray, and then overbrush with testor's aluminum to get the scale effect.
Our lhs stocks the kit about every month or so, so it must be a current re-release...it is a great kit, except for the canopy glass (too thick).
Poured the rock/ground today...pics tomorrow!

cthulhu77

The base is dry, so will be adding on all of the groundbits today, and maybe even casting the water if time allows:

Very cool, great story! This thing would look at home as an Aaskan or Canadian wilderness bush plane B)

Another great how-to article in the making? Hope you took LOTS of in-progress pics.

I would be just beaming with pride if I was you right about now....and it's not even all completed yet!

Wow, truly astonishing.

Oh, and I checked all my usual online shops, nobody I know of seems to carry this kit! Unreal. Even Squadron Models doesn't have it listed. Blah. :P

That's odd...yeah, even Squadron, though they list it in their catalogue, doesn't stock it. Ebay usually has some...
Did get the foliage on yesterday, and spent some time making a sculpey stingray:
