Coolness.

So, um, will there be a Catalina to be built as well?  B)

Unfortunately,no...although the catalina is about half finished, the diorama ended up being just too dang large with both planes, and perhaps unmanageable, so I scrapped the cat for this one. Sigh.

The ray is a great touch! This is coming along beautifully...really looking forward to seeing the water added. Water effects are something I'd like to try in the future.

Gerg your work is simply stunning! That ray looks incredibly lifelike! I am impressed beyond words with your incredible talent and skill, and I'm hungry to see more!

Wow...thanks all !  I'm happy with the project so far...lots more to do...perhaps resin tomorrow?

You can always do the Cat in a separate but related dio.
One of the guys in my club is doing a 3 parter showing a knocked out Iraqi convoy with several US tanks bypassing it.  He has 1 part done, 1 almost the the 3rd roughed in.

Well, the deck certainly needed to be a bit bigger to latch a plane to, so I called up Norm and Bob, and started cutting:

It was an exiciting evening of casting hot resin here !  Perhaps a little tooooo much mek9 in the mix for our blistering 102 degrees, as the model began to smoke...so food out of the fridge, and the diorama in, much to the chagrin of the missus!  This is a shot of the first pour:

Brian da Basher

Holy cow, Greg that's an absolutely amazing diorama there! The entire project looks so incredibly lifelike. I am in awe.

Thanks Brian!  The second pour came out ok...singed some parts, but nothing major:

*note: no, the prop is not glued in yet...LOL

Jaw droppingly gorgeous! The plane's not bad either ;)

Seriously, the whole thing is great and that little stingray really sets things off nicely.

That is SOOOOO cool. I'm getting hot and sticky just looking at it. Get yer minds out of the gutter I meant 'cos I can imagine myself in the jungle. Looks like you should have Indiana Jones in there somewhere.
So how did you get the bamboo to look so good on the hut?

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Lol, and thanks...
I use the same technique for painting this sort of hut as I did on the Jolly Roger build..several layers of paint, sanded down, and then washed with grimy black. Some coloured pencil action to dress it up, and viola!
Funny you should mention it, as Dr. Jones does make a cameo in one of the chapters...
