Maybe a very crude ejection seat testbed:

Imagine if Martin-Baker were using these today instead of their Meteors!! ;D ;D

Hi GTX!

I'm not a fan of the WWII airplanes in general, but I admit that I find your work on the 262 very very impressive! Congratulation!

Glad you like - what other possibilities can you think of?

How about an airframe(s) used to explore wing layouts, greater sweepback, delta wing etc?  Single engine variant using the same general layout?  Target tug/drone conversion?  Reheated engines?  One of the captured aircraft refitted with Derwents/Metrovicks or J33/J35?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The new-build Stormbirds they've been building in Washington the last few years are powered by J85s.  Maybe someone gets this idea back in the 60s, and they come into fashion as a cheap attack jet for use in SE Asia, the Americas or the African bush wars.

Why not a Desert variant with, for example, the engines ON the wings, instead of UNDER (for lower sand injection)??

That could work for a seaplane too, but I don't think the 262 could do a good seaplane.

Why not a maritime patrol one, with propelers, longer fuselage and mines and torpedoes under the wings?

Or a V-Tail one, with the second pilot being a gunner looking back, like on those old bombers?

Some would think that, but not our Gary (aka HOG):

Well, Fabe did some a while back including these:

Remember Gary's Wasserflug beauty, but I can't remember seeing Fabe's profiles, good stuff!

A few more, FSW as a fighter follow on from the Ju-287?  High altidude variant with long straight wing?  Suprised nobody has mentioned a zwilling yet?

Plugging the Flying Sorcery GB again, the Me 400/Sack As-7 was supposed to be a circular wing aircraft based on the Bf-109 & Sack AS-6.  What about following the family line with the Me-500/Sack As-8?

Or maybe someone wanted a turboprop version giving better forward visibility:

Greg

Hi Greg,

Wish I had that when I was building this.

The canopy was a pushmould based on kits bitz and drawings but the turbos would have given a nice next variant slant.

By the way thanks for the plug

QuoteSingle engine variant using the same general layout?

How's this - it's got the more swept wing of the HGIII variant:
