This is my first Eagle kit.............AND my third Airfix GB entry.

So the cockpit is together, and it looks a little like this:

I'll say this for Airfix - I LOOOOOVE these instrument panel decals! The detail! The ease of application! WOW! Etched fret be damned!

Tomorrow will be my big working day - funeral aside, the day will be all Airfix. I'm hoping to get the fuse halves together (at least), and I'll load pics when progress is happening. Happened? I don't know, but you get the drift.

Zac,
Nice to see this pic full size.  Much easier on my old eyes.
Looking forward to the rest of the build.

Excellent detailing on that 'pit Zac! It seems you're taking a cue from a certain Howling Mouse. I wish I had the patience to do work like that. Excellent!

Wing has been glued together and set aside..........BAe recommended to the RNZAF techies that clothesline pegs were far superior to jigs when reassembling Eagle wings.

And the fuselage - this ain't no dryfit matey, she;s all together! I;m currently working on the rear top plate, fitting the airbrakes and *attempting* to get them flush. Boy oh boy, Airfix have really given us our work on a platter. Can't complain tho.

Speaking of which, note the major gaps where the intake meets the fuselage. Untidy at best, methinks. I foresee usage of Red Devil's Patch n Fill in my future!

More updates tomorrow. Til then, I'm off to watch XR219 taxi - on DVD! Fun for the whole family. B)

Very nice but there's (gulp) a T-Tail in the background....?

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Zac,
Its looking good.  On the intakes, maybe put some shims made out of sheet plastic.  Would cut down the puttying (unless you like puttying).

Just a bit of a progress update. And does anyone at all from this forum know who Phil Makanna is, or is philp the sole person kept in the dark about the man's work?

Plan on painting the undercarriage over the weekend, and also to get the doors on and fill the glaring intake gaps.

Thank goodness I've decided to put Frog's TSR.2 aside while I deal with this Airfix madness! :P I already foresee a lot of filling and sanding in my future without having to deal with trench panel lines and that damned pitot tube!

BTW, here's a pic of the GR.6 nose:

I'll probably put the laser designator under the nose tonight.

This one's shaping up nicely Zac! You're doing a great job overcoming this kit's challenges. I've got a feeling this will be one of your best yet, heading into that much-anticipated TSR.2 project!

Wow...talk about filling!  That is going to look great when you are done...definitely a work of art.

Oh Yeah!!! I love seeing this plane in progress!!! What camo do you chose for it?

Just a question: where is the nose from? Do you take it on another kit? Or did you build it? Whatever, it's very well done!!

Will you rework the tail and the bumps at the tail's base like on my drawing?

Toom? Could be......but then again, it came from a certain antiF4............

The camo has started (last week), it is to be the three-tone green, green and grey as worn by the A4s after Kahu up until the late 90s. Right now I have the light green on, but upon consulting my references, my scheme was a real whif. So I'll be touching her up come Thursday.

Still need to buy more JA Green, and money's tight at the mo, so my work will be focused on the Magister. For now.
