I read somewhere recently that a hybrid of the Shorts Belfast and Lockheed Starlifter was once on the drawing board.  Cant find the reference now, and would love to know if there is anything available on this.  Cant really find anything on google.

Was this the aircraft that I have seen described as the Georgia Bel ( le ) ?          It would have looked pretty awesome , if not pretty.

I've not heard that name given to it.  It was the SC.5/41 which used a Belfast forward fusealge mated to a C-141 wing & tail.  It would have had a new rear fuselage, swing nose loading & RB.178 engines (developed RR Conways).

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Shorts built the Britannia transport aircraft. I know the Canadian's had a few versions including the Argus Maritime Patrol aircraft. The Britannia brings in a few what ifs like RAF buying a Maritime Patrol version instead of the Nimrod, An AEW to replace the shackleton. When they retired the transports in the 1970's them being converted to say tankers.

A Bristol 175MR was drawn up, it looks a lot like a cross between a Short Stirling and a B-17.  There are drawings of it in BSP Bombers.

The big problem there is the lack of any good Britannia models, or even ANY Britannia models!

The only ones I can think of are the FROG 1/96 scale one, and dervatives, the 1/144 scale Welsh Models vacform and the Kadar/Lincoln one, of which the least said the better...........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It is actually almost identical to the Canadair Argus Simon,  except for a new nose from the cockpit forward.  I'm thinking of building a model of it in 1/72

I've got the Airways Vacuform Models 1/72 of a Britannia 300, also just received some 3D Printer undercarriage for it too, so along with the Aeroclub props I can make a pretty good job of it I think.  Except I'm going to convert it into a Canadair Yukon  ---  ;D

F-Resin does Britannia's in 1/144th and Roden has one due too.

Things are looking up then, I'd like to see a 1/72 injection moulded Brit 300.

But I'd like to win the lottery too!

Would love to see it Robert.  I'd forgotten the Argus has the radials too, so probably a much easier conversion than a Britannia kit.

Looking at the 3-View of the Bristol 175MR in the BSP-Jet Bombers since 1949, the radials are a dead ringer of the Argus, even the air intakes under the nacelles are the same style.

I'm not too sure if Eastern Models use the same mouldings as the Frog 1/96.

Yes they are, just alot more worn out from when they were created in the UK many years ago.
