Basically the Mirage G-8 fitted with a fixed wing rather than the VG one

Welcome back, Thor! Great to see you here again! And yes, that is one lovely Mirage.

If only it had spats.

I love spats!

The first installment of the La Fana de l'Aviation series on the Mirage 4000 has great coverage of this one.  Interested in scans of at least the illos?

Hello!! Starting from the Fana article, and Heller Mirage F1 spares, I made a model of the ACF (Avion de Combat Futur, Future Combat Aircraft).
The program was launched in may 1972, to replace the G8 program. VG wings was too expensive and limited to ground attack because of a lack of agility.
so the ACF was launched. The plane was to become the mainstay of the AdA in the 80's (no Mirage 2000 at the time!).
It used the M53 engine; the goal was to reach mach 2.5, to counter the MiG-25 (just like the F-15!)
A full scale mock up was exposed at Le Bourget airshow in june 1973. Later, the prototype was started.
But the program was too much expensive. In december 1975, the prototype was 80% complete; it was due to fly in july 1976.
alas, program was cancelled. The prototype was scrapped :(
On december 18th 1975, Dassault and president VG D'Estaing agree to stop the program... and the 2000 was launched to replace it. The 4000 was also proposed, but Giscrad just wanted the much less expensive 2000...
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

I have to diminish the size of the pictures to put them on my website. Wiating for that, here's a (very bad) glance I made... much better pictures will follow!
There's the ACF, but also the 4000 and G8...

Here it is, Deino! As you can see, I also made models of the 4000 and G8... Hope you enjoy it!
