15 June 2017- off the Australian coast (AP)
Commonwealth air and naval forces completed joint military exercises in the eastern Indian Ocean today. US Navy and Air Force units, along with forces from Australia and New Zealand, participated in the 8-day exercise known as Kangaroo Sun-17. Two American aircraft carriers—the USS Reagan and the USS Truman—along with Australian Marines simulated an amphibious invasion on Australia's western coast. This was the first year that New Zealand forces took part in the annual exercise.

Caliphate Minister of Jihad Abu Bakr called the exercise a "obvious attempt to intimidate the Islamic republic and its loyal defense forces." US and Australian officials denied that claim.

6 January 2018- The Pentagon (AP)

US officials today expressed concern over the continued build-up of Caliphate forces along the border with Singapore, as tensions between the two increased following Singapore's boarding and seizure of a Caliphate ship in the Straits of Malacca last December. The vessel was found to be carrying over 14 tons of weapons and explosives. Singaporean officials claim the weapons were destined for guerillas in the southern Philippines, a claim Caliphate officials deny.

According to anonymous Pentagon officials, several thousand Caliphate troops are now massed on the border with Singapore and US officials have called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

Analysts suggest this may be a Caliphate ploy to pressure Singapore into handing over the seized ship, however, the rhetoric coming from Jakarta has become increasingly belligerent in recent weeks.

Hope to have some more pictures today.

21 January 2018- New York
The United Nations Security Council today stopped debate on punitive actions against the Eastern Caliphate after a week of closed-door negotiations among the nine permanent members. The General Assembly yesterday failed to pass a measure condemning the Caliphate's invasion and annexation of Singapore.

Australian officials have denounced the Caliphate's invasion of Singapore as a "gross violation of international law." The Caliphate Minister of Jihad today dismissed Australia's comments as "the bleating of a wasting power."

In Washington, US officials privately expressed concern that only a handful of Singapore's advanced arsenal—including US-made F-35, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets—had escaped the Caliphate invasion. "I think it's a pretty safe bet that those weapons will soon be flying the Caliphate flag," said one US official who asked to remain anonymous. US forces in the Pacific have been on a heightened state of alert since the crisis began in December.

If it's still there, grab it.

The most annoying thing about Hasegawa's F-2 kits is that they remind me how old their F-16 molds are. These F-2s are beauties and it's nice to daydream about a new tool, Hasegawa F-16...I can dream, can't I?

Nothing but filling and sanding to report but I thought I would update the background scenario a bit:

16 March 2018- Papau New Guinea

2,000 Australian and 1,500 American troops will be deployed to Papau New Guinea to protect that nation from what Washington and Canberra view as an increasingly aggressive Caliphate presence in the region. Caliphate officials called the move "an act of aggression by the imperialist, infidel forces."

20 July 2018- Jakarta

The Eastern Caliphate's Shura Council today declared that all "all infidels and non-believers" should leave Caliphate lands immediately for their own safety and threatened to reclaim Muslim lands in Asia "with the sword, if necessary."

The statement comes two days after violence between Christians and Muslims in southern Thailand left 115 dead and more than 400 injured. The Thai government says it will clamp down on violence in the region and blamed "outside interference"—a veiled reference to the Caliphate—for inciting the bloodshed.
