Beautiful big ship, but they say it was a bit of a donkey.  Supposedly the engines couldn't really give it the oomph it was supposed to have.  Still, nice kit... if only someone would go styrene.

Nice, but I'm keeping my eye on the 1/144 Sukhoi T-4MS.....   I'll start a thread.

It'll break the bank, but I'm planning on buying at least one, hopefully two....   I pretty much fell in love with the design when I first saw it in Soviet Secret Projects.  The T-4MS was the winner of the competition with the Tu-160, but Sukhoi had the project taken away from due to commitments with the Su-27 & Tupolev refused to build any but his own design.

The kit will be of the earlier design, that would have been almost a pure delta flying wing with it's wings swept.


I'd like to do the later design as well, with tail surfaces & a longer nose that was added to design to prevent huge CoG shifts when the wings swept.


Oh yeah, & in true Anigrand fashion for their 1/144 kits, there will be three 'secret' kits with it.  The silhouetes on the page seem to show 1/144 versions of the MiG-37 & Ka-58 whiff kits, & the Sukhoi T-50.

The XB-48's problem wasn't so much the power of the engines as it was the design of the nacelles.
Each of engine nacelles was designed as a lifting body and the ducts between the engines were supposed to channel the air flow for reduced drag... it worked great in the wind tunnel but on the actual aircraft the ducts dammed the airflow at high speeds creating massive drag. 

Martin later proposed a turbo-prop version as the Model 247.

Probably not, I'm assuming if Anigrand have done anything at all it'll be a gentlemans agreement, as they won't be making large amounts of money & it's not the actual thing that folks will be buying the kit for.  Even if Arnold hasn't done anything, I don't think Testors & Zvezda's lawyers are going to be knocking on the door, partly because it just wouldn't be worth it, secondly because Hong Kong is now firmly part of the PRC!

Seriously, there would be lots of whatifs around the Titan III. The rocket lasted forty years, and many manned spacecrafts were supposed to reach space ontop of it...

The M-17 sounds cool, too. Back in 2002 there was a X-prize contender using it. A small suborbital shuttle for four passengers.

A M-17 with a Titan II upper stage and a DynaSoar or Blue Gemini would be great.

I have a B-52 fuselage in the loft, that is looking like its going to get Ekranoplaned, or made into a seaplane even.
