re the 1/144 Galaxy, the old Otaki/Entex/Crown/Revell kit of the type was a really neat moulding (admittedly with some warpage on later examples) engraved panel detail, matt surface finish, accurate outlines, now if the new kit was to be in 72 scale instead

       If Anigrand is really doing a 1/144 C-5, they may actually use the plastic kit as a pattern. I remember reading an online review of their AH-56 Cheyenne & it compared well to the old Aurora kit, IIRC, it even shared the same discrepencies & other commonalities.

They're working on a 1/72nd Galaxy too according to Nostalgic Plastic but there are some engineering problems to fix, last I heard it was planned for late October priced at $416. Not sure when it'll be out as it's not on the Anigrand site yet and neither is the 1/144th kit though there was a pic of the master shown in Japan. That Arnold was going to do a Sentinel has been known for at least a year; the decals were included with the Nimrod kit.

Strange isnt it, it almost belongs in the "various-in-1 special" set section where rather than a biggie plus bonus, you tend to get a selection of similer sized aircraft?

as for ther first in a line of "gigantic casts".... The Hughes Spruce Goose is knocking around in 1/72 at the moment which doesnt prevent another down the line, but maybe some large Antonovs!?

Now that I think about it, I think with his 1/72 Galaxy, Arnold is announcing to the world he's addicted to resin fumes...

Next, we're gonna see 1/72 Spruce Gooses, An-125's, An-225's, and A380's...  Not to mention Project Aldebaran

   I think the An-124 & -225 are overdue. I'm surprised Amodel hasn't done or at least announced them. I think a Boeing 747 would be a good one, too. Lots of variants to help with the base mold.

There's an excellent 1:144 scale An-124 out there. Why go for a bigger scale? In 1:72, you're getting to the limit of what's buildable without the model collapsing under its own weight, and I don't see Anigrand building a kit that's more detailed than the Revell one.

We could use a 1:144 conversion to build an An-225. That would go nicely with the Buran that Anigrand already does.

I think a resin Belfast in 1/72 is pushing the limits for size, the resin is very thick and up to 1/4" in some places.  The C-17 in resin is really the extreme of what is possible and I know what the difference is between the C-17 and C-5 ---
