I remember that, for a time, some interceptors designs have had the seat for radar operating officers buried into the forward fuselage so that they can look at their radar scopes without being affected by outside lights......

In most if not all cases, this resulted in the offset canopy for pilots...... but I wonder if it might look a bit better if the radar operating officer is seated in front of the pilot's cockpit......

To make room for the buried radar operating officer's seat, the nose will have to be stretched...... but how far could I go before it turns really ugly?

Another Chinese version ... reportedly the latest Chinese Flanker incarnationhad its maiden flight on August 31. as the carrier capable J-15. Reportedly SCA changed a lot and it is said to look like a mix of Su-27 + F/A-18:

I spotted this on airliners.net yesterday.  It's an Su-34 configured as a jammer aircraft.

It's 1/72 and was built by Ken Duffey. He used the Nakotne kit of the two seater (also released by Berkut and Zvezda). It was on the joint What If/Soviet Aircraft display at Telford and there's a photo of it on page 5 of the "SMW09 pics blow out" thread.

Now I really hope that PLAN would indeed put the ex-Varyag into service.

Now, why aren't there any accurate kits for the SU-30 in 1/72?  So far the ones I have found, have very simplistic exhausts (I have seen toothpaste tube tops with more detail in them).

Now I need to do something with a Zvesda SU-35 kit in 1/72....Ideas percolating.

It also looks like the wing profile is different, but that could be a visual trick.

As to the Su-30, you're missing the Su-30KN by Zvezda, which does the two-seater Tandem-seater cockpit.

I'm surprised no  one has released a resin (or other wise) conversion to make one of the various 1/48 Su-27 kits into a Su-32.
