First designed during the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930's, the MJ-187 was built in cooperation with Messerschmitt and Junkers in the construction of a Heavy Fighter/Ground Attack aircraft. The first series, (MJ-187C) were used in Poland, with great success, and by the Fall of France, the 'D' was in operation.
Seen here, the MJ-187G, over the Sicilian coast. (1944)

Model : Airfix 1/72 Me-109G-6
Added bits : The wing has been 'cranked' and extended by 2 inches. Under the nose, a full intake/supercharger system, and the tail, well a new tail and tailplanes.

armanent : 2 cowling M/G's, 2 x20mm under wing canons, 2x 250kg bombs and central fuel tank.

So why is it that I stillv field my feeble attempts at whiffbashing, mith masters like Glenn around?

Mate, there are no superlatives to adequately describe how much the -187 makes me, okay, no idea where I'm going with this, um..............

Great model! B)

I thought I'd throw in one more shot of her, before I added the undercart.

Your ideas are so inspiring, Glenn.  I think this is the third time I couldn't resist playing in your sandbox with digital photo.

I didn't know if your background was intended to be a very low-level pass but I wondered if your MJ-187 would look like it was flying very high over Tunisia or somewhere if I took out the aircraft's shadow that was up by the nose.  Removed the lines from the wingtips, too (am guessing these had been lines holding up the model?).

Ta da!  Hope you like.  That's a fantastic model you have there!

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

The shadow was left there on purpose as if it was flying low and the trails on the wing tip, to show speed. Actually she was shot on a sheet of acrylic 24x40 inches.
Chief, nicely done with the photoshop all the same.

Well there she is, finished! On the ground you can see her load, 20mm cannon each side, a pair of medium bombs and a central fuel tank. Also, the undercarriage has been 'beefed up', now extending vertically, wider track and wider tyres.

The fuel truck, Academy. The V-Dub as before and the crew, Prieser.

WOW! That looks great, maybe we should call it the Airfix diorama group build?
And this is meant as a huge compliment but I thought at first glance that, that second shot, which looks better WITH the shadows was just a scan of this famous image.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Now that looks "purposeful" - great build Glen
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
