Your workbench in full glory

I know it's been done before, but after seeing Greg's bench in his German SAW thread and with all the new blood that have come to the darker side, I thought it might be time to do it again. I realized how limited in size some of us have to work with and I am amazed at the quality of work that comes from a modest workbench, except for Baz. He built his house around his workbench . So, give us a look at your bench, without cleaning up for company. Here's mine on any given day.

BlackOps

My workbench as of this morning. It actually doesn't look too bad because I haven't spent much time there lately.

This is a silly time to be wanting a good look at modelers' workbenches in full operation!

I *HAD* to clean up mine (and what a doozy it was) because it's CHRISTMAS time, and we are having a load of guests over. The "Crafts Room" by necessity had to become a, sigh, BED room again.

Sheesh, I shoulda taken some photos in October when I had just finished the Avro Avatar and begun to finish my Jinpu-Kai---there were TWO operations going on, and loads of tools, paints, parts, etc.

I think one of the "givens" of workbenches is a "studied disarray" of materials. That is, I know of no one who has the perfectly-aligned tools, brushes, etc., organized like a surgeon, but despite the appearance of disarray, I *KNOW* where everything I might need next is--AT THE BOTTOM of any given pile!

If I had more-or-less unlimited funds and room, I think I would get one of those U-shaped (or at least C-shaped) desks for maximum workspace, set-aside space, and storage space.

DREAM ON!

Here's my disaster area:

The big plastic tub in the back with the black "bottom" is my home made spray booth. There's a big computer fan behind the two layers of filters. Not much gets past it. When I need it, i clear a spot in the front of the table and move it forward.
The big white board behind it is the foamed PVC I use in a lot of scratchbuilds. It's cheap, light and easy to work with.I keep paints, tools and modeling bits in the plastic storage bins to the right and left.
In the box at the bottom of the screen I have an Optivisor with LED lights  There's a pile of kits to the left, my CO2 tank and compressor are under the table. The pile of kits stacked in the paint booth are projects that are in the paint/build queue.

Alright, you wanted it, you got it, here's my workbench in all its glory, also known as my primary living area.

It's too neat (paint bottles in neat rows on your workspace, no paint on the desk, etc.). I call shenanigans.

Frank2056---I see now why some modelers are complaining about "box inflation", that is, a huge box with a much smaller model in it.

That Me-262 on the left really DIDN'T come from that humongous box on the right, did it??

That's not Shenanigans, that's OCD, and maximizing the workspace available to me.

Observe - the pots on the right, by the Shinano - they are not in perfect lines, they're just in two "rows" that happen to look like lines.  I put them there when I needed the top shelf for Sprukidd and St George.  The brushes are actually rather willy nilly right now, I normally have them in that big orange pill bottle.  There's things out of place, honest.  I saw the pics and thought "what the hell" got up and snapped the pic direct, promise!

Yup. That's the Eduard 1/144 scale Me-262. there are two kits in the box, but still plenty of room for a third.

Sauragnmon - I'm good at minimizing my workspace. I know it's time to clean up when I find myself with a 3" x 3" clear area on my desk.

Sauragnmon

Yeah, I have to keep it open - that paper towel's my drink coaster, I normally put my plate with my food when eating dinner right beside the mouse, so if I happen to have an inspiration, my work area, to my right, is where I am.  That's also my pallette and paint area.  Not clearly identified, because of the nerds box, is the water cup for my brushes.  The box kept the cat from drinking it on me.  My camera sits over in its specific place, beside the Amagi hull.  I'm a little obsessive about keeping open space, because with my plethora of ideas, it'd be insanity to do otherwise.  I have builds sitting in their boxes because I haven't got space logically to put them yet.

Hoyhoy`al,

When I call it the HogCupboard I really do mean it.

My work area is around 4 x 3 feet and when sitting at the bench me bums halfway out the door. The cutting mat under the figures is A5 size.
There is another bit of to the right, but thats mainly a filing cabinet and kit stash.
